Karak: Police on Sunday apprehended a truck driver who was caught on camera driving in the opposite direction in a dangerous manner, endangering the lives of all road users in Karak Governorate (southern Jordan), and impounded the vehicle. According to Jordan News Agency, yesterday, as police patrols were carrying out their duties in Karak, a truck driver refused to stop despite appeals from patrol officials. He continued driving along a main road, but in the opposite way, passing through one of the traffic signals. He was pursued until he stopped and escaped the vehicle. The vehicle was seized, and the hunt for the individual, whose identification had been established, began, according to the Public Security Directorate's (PSD) spokesperson. The driver's whereabouts were discovered on Sunday evening after extensive search operations and information gathering, and he was apprehended. During the investigation, he admitted that he removed the vehicle's license plate and left because the vehicle's license had expired and he lacked a driver's license that allowed him to drive it. Legal action will be pursued against him while the vehicle is being kept at an impound yard in the Swaqa area (south of Amman) for the required legal duration, the PSD spokesperson confirmed.
