Political Affairs Minister Encourages University Students to Engage in Political Parties.

Amman: Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Monem Odat urged university students to join political parties, emphasizing the freedom guaranteed by the parties law for Jordanians to exercise their political rights. Addressing a dialogue session with Faculty of Law students at the Al Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Odat highlighted the importance of political modernization as a state approach fortified constitutionally and legally by His Majesty King Abdullah. According to Jordan News Agency, Odat outlined the next stage of political development, where party involvement will deepen, serving as the legal entry point to political practice, parliamentary access, and the formation of governments through a parliamentary party majority. He assured that the Ministries of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Higher Education would ensure university students can engage in partisan activities, expressing their political positions without compromising their education. The ministry is in ongoing discuss ions with university student affairs deans to address any concerns. Odat underscored the significance of political modernization as a response to both internal and external changes, noting that this process predates 2021 and includes constitutional amendments and legislative reforms. These reforms have strengthened the relationship between the three branches of government, leading to the creation of the Independent Election Commission and the Constitutional Court, as well as extending the parliamentary term. On the regional front, Odat praised the stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Jordanian diplomacy in response to the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, stating that Jordanians are united in defending their homeland and supporting their nation's just causes.
