Pope Francis Calls for Respecting Gaza Ceasefire

Vatican City: Pope Francis has called for respect for the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel, expressing his gratitude to all mediators who contributed to the success of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which came into effect on Sunday.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Pope, in remarks following Sunday prayers, expressed his hope for faster and more extensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.

The Pope stressed the need for Palestinian and Israeli political authorities, with the support of the international community, to work towards achieving a two-state solution, which he described as the optimal path to ensuring lasting peace in the region.
