Amman: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places has urged citizens across Jordan to participate in the istisqa prayer for rain, a tradition observed by Muslims since the time of Prophet Mohammad, next Friday throughout all regions of the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Minister, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, issued a press statement on Tuesday directing the heads of Jordan's Awqaf directorates, as well as imams and preachers, to organize the ritual following Friday prayers. This initiative aims to seek divine intervention for rain during a period that often sees a shortage of rainfall in the region.
