Amman:Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has directed the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities to intensify inspections of all establishments and strictly enforce Article 63 of the Public Health Law.
According to Jordan News Agency, The directive mandates that any establishment found serving hookah or selling tobacco products to individuals under 18 will face closure and be held fully accountable for the violation. This decision follows reports of some businesses violating the law by providing these products to minors.
Serving hookah or selling tobacco to minors poses a direct threat to their health and may encourage early tobacco use, exposing them to related health risks. The measure aligns with Chapter Twelve of Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008, which focuses on protecting public health from the harmful effects of smoking.
