Amman: The Board of Trustees of the West Asian Football Federation Foundation for Development (WAFF) convened a coordination meeting with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) to deliberate on strategies for enhancing their collaborative humanitarian and development efforts. The meeting took place in Amman alongside the WAFF's annual ceremony and Board of Trustees meeting.
According to Jordan News Agency, HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, and Aqeel Ghamdi, Assistant Supervisor General of KSrelief, were present to discuss the expansion of cooperation between the two entities. They were joined by Nazeeh Al Nasser, President of the Social Responsibility Committee at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, and Adnan Darjal, a Board Member. The gathering focused on reviewing current programs and initiatives by WAFF and KSrelief aimed at supporting communities impacted by crises.
During the meeting, Ghamdi emphasized the importance of aligning KSrelief's relief, medical, and educational efforts with WAFF's initiatives to enhance the positive impact on communities facing growing humanitarian challenges. Prince Ali acknowledged KSrelief's contributions in West Asia and Ghamdi appreciated WAFF's innovative programs.
The discussions included exploring ways to integrate football into humanitarian projects, focusing on youth development, capacity building, and enhancing their role in society. Both parties agreed on continuing the partnership and developing future projects encompassing sports, education, and health, to be executed in collaboration with local authorities in target nations.
The meeting underscored WAFF's commitment to strategic partnerships and leveraging sport as a tool for sustainable development. It also highlighted KSrelief's initiatives in supporting vulnerable groups through sports programs, such as those in the Zaatari refugee camp, which include leagues and training courses for both genders and refereeing programs.
