Prince El Hassan Concludes Successful Diplomatic Visit to Japan.

Tokyo: Prince El Hassan bin Talal and Princess Sarvath El Hassan concluded a working visit to Japan on Sunday, meeting with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, as per an official statement. The visit underscored the enduring diplomatic ties and collaborative efforts between Jordan and Japan. According to Jordan News Agency, the Prince sponsored a ceremony hosted by the Jordanian Embassy in Japan to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Jordan-Japan diplomatic relations, which was also attended by Princess Sarvath El Hassan and Princess Takamado of Japan. During the event, Prince El Hassan highlighted the robust bilateral relationship, focusing on human-centred cooperation to enrich both Jordanian and Japanese societies. Prince El Hassan advocated for stronger connections between Southwest Asia and East Asia, emphasizing the shared belief in human values and mutual respect amid escalating global tensions. In Tokyo, he visited Sophia University, engaging with the dean, Dr. Augustine Salli, and President Terumi chi Yoshiaki. During a panel discussion, he addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, condemning Israel's actions and calling for an independent humanitarian framework based on human dignity to foster regional stability. He also remarked on the need to integrate cultural and historical values to resolve geopolitical conflicts, particularly in the Levant. At the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Prince El Hassan met with President Yamakawa Hiroshi and explored the role of space science in addressing humanitarian challenges and natural disasters. In meetings with the Japan-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Association, Prince El Hassan advocated reallocating global defence budgets towards infrastructure and development, especially in the Great Rift Valley. He stressed the importance of systems like the Multiple Deprivation Index for understanding and addressing deprivation accurately. The visit further included discussions with the Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture, Kazuhiko Oigawa, and membe rs of the Japan Middle East Institute, reinforcing the multifaceted collaboration between the two nations.
