St. petersburg: Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, took part in the 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, organized by Russia's Ministry of Justice with wide participation from security leaders, legal officials, and experts globally.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the forum, Al-Maaytah emphasized that current security and legal challenges demand enhanced international cooperation and the development of strategic partnerships among law enforcement and justice institutions. He highlighted the necessity of such cooperation in combating transnational crime, addressing emerging threats, strengthening the rule of law, and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices to build more efficient and effective security and judicial systems.
He further mentioned that Jordan's Public Security Directorate, backed by the Hashemite leadership, is implementing a comprehensive modernization strategy. This strategy focuses on institutional development, integrating advanced technologies and artificial intelligence across policing and security operations, and investing in human capital through high-standard professional training. These initiatives, he stated, enhance the readiness of security agencies and their capacity to respond to rapidly evolving challenges.
Al-Maaytah also pointed out that sharing successful experiences among law enforcement agencies is fundamental to enhancing security and judicial performance. He stressed that security and stability are collective responsibilities that require increased coordination, integration, and sustainable partnerships among countries and relevant institutions to protect societies, safeguard rights and freedoms, and reinforce public confidence in security and judicial institutions.
On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Maaytah met with Dmitry Aristov, Director of Russia's Federal Bailiff Service. Both parties discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in areas of mutual interest, aiming to improve institutional performance, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen coordination between the two agencies.
The officials reiterated the importance of maintaining communication and advancing joint cooperation mechanisms to serve mutual interests and support efforts to enhance justice and security systems in accordance with international best practices and standards.
