Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Abeidallah Maaitah, on Wednesday participated in the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Gendarmerie Commanders (FIEP) summit held in Rome. During his speech, Maj. Gen. Maaitah stressed the important role of the Italian presidency in organizing this summit and hosting the attendees in order to enhance security and stability and exchange visions and expertise in countering challenges that are increasing day by day. He emphasized the importance of the FIEP in enhancing effective cooperation between the security institutions of member states and achieving its objectives in promoting mutual understanding and developing strategic relations between member states, contributing to the exchange of experiences and expertise, and addressing urgent security issues effectively and efficiently. The PSD chief also pointed out the need to open wider horizons for cooperation and joint action among member states to face security challenges and threats in various countries, especially cross-border crimes that require high coordination between countries, such as drugs, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, environmental crimes and others. Maj. Gen. Maaitah expressed the PSD's readiness to cooperate with all members to maintain public order and criminal security and address illegal immigration and drug issues. On the sidelines of the participation, the PSD director met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Italian Carabinieri, Lieutenant General Teo Luzi, President of the Association at its current session, and discussed enhancing aspects of cooperation in various police fields of common interest.
