Madaba: A medical team of Al-Nadeem Government Hospital in Madaba on Sunday performed a unique laparoscopic surgery to cosmetically reconstruct the right renal pelvis. "It is the first and most difficult surgery in the hospital using a surgical laparoscope through four small holes in the abdomen, instead of traditional surgery in the flank," said Dr. Rashid Al-Khalayleh, the kidney and urinary tract surgery specialist who supervised the operation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the surgery is characterized by skill in cutting and expanding the narrowed part, and then cosmetic suturing of the renal pelvis. Dr. Al-Khalayleh added that the surgery is distinguished by the quick recovery of the patient due to the absence of a large wound in the abdomen.
The hospital's director Baha Halalmeh noted that the health facility has recently been expanded, allowing for performing surgeries, with 123 beds and 12 specialty clinics. These include heart, rheumatism, and endocrine clinics, along with devices such as osteoporosis, mammogram for cancer screening, and EEG.
