Amman:According to Jordan News Agency, a ride-hailing driver has been referred to the Cybercrime Unit by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) after posting a misleading video from Queen Alia International Airport. The video, which was posted on Saturday, allegedly attempted to show the driver being unfairly treated by a traffic sergeant while claiming his trip was legally operated.
An investigation committee was immediately formed to look into the incident. They collected information, reviewed camera footage, and checked timestamps. The committee summoned the driver and traced his trips through the app, revealing that he had accepted a passenger from Jabal Al Lweibdeh-Amman to the airport without using the licensed app, instead arranging a private agreement for a fare of JD20.
The traffic sergeant issued the driver a legal violation for not displaying the trip on the app. Following this, the driver exited the airport, initiated a new trip, returned, and recorded and posted the video to give the impression of being wronged.
The driver has been referred to the judiciary for legal action, as he is accused of fabricating the incident and attempting to defame the traffic police by posting the misleading video.
