Riyadh:Passenger and air traffic at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh have returned to normal following two attacks by Yemen's Houthis that resulted in the deaths of three Saudi citizens and injuries to others.
According to Anadolu Agency, state-run Alekhbariya TV reported that passenger movement at the airport is 'flowing smoothly,' with operational services fully restored and air traffic at normal levels.
The broadcaster emphasized that the prompt resumption of flights underscores the readiness of the airport's infrastructure and the adaptability of Saudi Arabia's civil aviation system in handling exceptional situations while ensuring the safety of passengers and staff.
This incident was part of a series of attacks, as the country has faced ongoing Houthi assaults on civilian airports since earlier in the week. Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed the fatalities and injuries from two attacks on Thursday, one targeting airport facilities and the other a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft.
The attacks injured people of various nationalities, with injuries ranging from minor to serious, and the wounded have been treated at hospitals. Property damage was reported, though details were not provided.
While the responsible party was not officially named by the agency, the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching ballistic and cruise missile attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Najran Airport in the south, and an air base in Khamis Mushait in the southwest.
