Yemeni Army Reports Significant Houthi Casualties in Recent Strikes

Accra:The Yemeni army announced that over 1,150 Houthi fighters were killed during more than 1,900 strikes conducted in the last 24 hours across multiple fronts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Staff Col. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, shared on the social media platform X that these military strikes were part of Operation Dawn of Yemen. The operation targeted the eastern, western, and southwestern fronts.

The strikes aimed at various military assets, including weapons and ammunition depots, fortifications, and military camps. They also targeted strategic high ground, reinforcements, and "high-value" targets within Houthi-controlled areas. Preliminary assessments indicated the operation neutralized more than 1,150 Houthi fighters.

Additionally, the strikes reportedly destroyed or disabled over 180 combat and supply vehicles, which significantly impaired the Houthis' operational capabilities, according to al-Nuzaili. Government ground forces have continued their advance, reclaiming positions and securing strategic locations.

The Houthis have not yet responded to these claims. The operation was initiated by Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi, with goals to retake the capital Sanaa and restore state institutions.

The conflict in Yemen has been ongoing since 2014 when the Houthis took control of Sanaa, leading to a Saudi-led coalition's military intervention in support of Yemen's internationally recognized government.
