Royal Decree Appoints Key Officials as Members of National Security Council

Amman: A Royal Decree has been issued appointing the Royal Hashemite Court Chief and the Director of the Office of His Majesty as members of the National Security Council for two years, effective from 7 August 2026. This follows the expiry of the two-year term specified in the previous Royal Decree issued in 2024.

According to Jordan News Agency, the National Security Council was established in accordance with Article 122 of the Constitution. The council is tasked with overseeing high-level affairs related to security, defense, and foreign policy. It includes the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Interior, the Chief of the Jordan Armed Forces Arab Army, the Director of Intelligence, the Director of Public Security, and two members appointed by Royal Decree.
