RSS Unveils JD186,000 Embezzlement Case

Amman: Internal control systems at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) uncovered an embezzlement case involving a former employee, and the case was referred to the competent authorities, RSS media spokesperson Raed Shawabkeh said on Monday. The case involved a former employee who was convicted and sentenced for embezzling JD186,000, Shawabkeh told Petra.

According to Jordan News Agency, Shawabkeh stated that the RSS respects judicial rulings and commended the judiciary and security bodies for completing legal procedures. Shawabkeh mentioned that the RSS formed an internal investigation committee, thoroughly reviewing the records and checks before reporting the case to authorities for legal action.

The incident was described as an individual act by a former employee who took advantage of his position as an accountant on a project. This project was managed under its own financial and administrative regulations but remained under the oversight and supervision of the RSS. Investigations revealed that the employee forged several checks and cashed them for his personal benefit over an extended period before the RSS monitoring and oversight procedures detected the misconduct.
