Sharjah: The second day of the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), commenced at the Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme “Communication for Quality of Life.” The forum, running from September 10-11, hosted over 237 speakers globally and was graced by the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.

According to Jordan News Agency, Tareq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, delivered the opening keynote address, focusing on the significance of government communication in enhancing quality of life and fostering sustainable development. He highlighted how effective communication can transform individual efforts into collective progress, while also praising the UAE’s leadership in this area, particularly referencing Sharjah’s model.

Osama Khatib, President of the International Organisation for Robotic Research and a professor at Stanford University, spoke about the integration of robotics and human intelligence. He showcased advancements in areas such as deep-sea exploration, medical technology, including remote surgeries, and environmental applications.

Hilary Yip from the Miner Minus Foundation in Hong Kong underscored the importance of technology in education. She noted that engaging with technology at an early age helps instill values and encourages innovation among children.

Karan Rajan, a medical professional and digital content creator, addressed the issue of misinformation spread by non-experts on health platforms. He advocated for the use of digital media to distribute reliable health information.

The forum centers around five global priorities: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy. The event seeks to emphasize the role of strategic communication in influencing public policy, shaping social awareness, and encouraging collective action towards a sustainable and equitable future.
