Paris: Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez has called for the enhancement of Jordanian-French economic and investment partnerships, urging increased trade and cooperation across multiple sectors during his official visit to Paris. Al-Fayez emphasized the opportunities available in Jordan, particularly in tourism, renewable energy, advanced technology, food security, water, and public transport, highlighting the kingdom's security and stability as an attractive investment environment.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions took place in an official meeting with French Senate President G©rard Larcher, attended by Al-Fayez's delegation and Jordan's ambassador to France, Lina Al-Hadid. The dialogue focused on strengthening bilateral ties and coordinating efforts to address the consequences of conflicts in the Middle East, notably the Iran-U.S.-Israel war and Israel's expansionist policies.
Al-Fayez praised the longstanding Jordanian-French relations, noting that they are founded on mutual respect and shared interests. He described France as a crucial partner in achieving regional peace and mentioned that both His Majesty King Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron are dedicated to advancing these ties and finding political solutions to regional conflicts.
During the talks, Al-Fayez called on France to play a more significant role within the European Union in fostering joint investments with Jordan. He stressed that supporting Jordan is beneficial for all parties, as the kingdom serves as a cornerstone of Middle Eastern stability and any threat to it could have broader regional implications.
Al-Fayez also addressed regional issues, expressing hope for a resolution to the Iran-U.S.-Israel war and rejecting the idea of Jordan becoming a battleground for any party. He reiterated Jordan's firm stance against Iran's regional ambitions and Israel's aggressive policies, advocating for a comprehensive, lasting peace.
The meeting also touched on the Palestinian issue, with Al-Fayez rejecting any solutions that undermine Jordan's national principles or threaten its security. He lauded France's support for Arab causes and the Hashemite Custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem, calling for stronger European action to encourage a two-state solution.
Larcher echoed Al-Fayez's sentiments, affirming the strategic nature of Jordanian-French relations and pledging to support Jordan's tourism sector and strengthen bilateral ties through the French-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee. He also reinforced France's commitment to the two-state solution and the Hashemite Custodianship.
