Sharjah Press Club to Debate Media Future at 14th IGCF

Sharjah: The Sharjah Press Club, operating under the Sharjah Government Media Office, will take part in the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) on September 10-11 at the Expo Centre Sharjah. The event will feature interactive sessions and debates focusing on contemporary media challenges, along with the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence on the future of journalism.

According to Jordan News Agency, the club will provide an interactive corner at the forum for visitors to experience professional news presenting firsthand. This unique opportunity will allow attendees to explore the media work environment and gain insights into the field.

The sessions at the forum reflect the club's commitment to delivering updated knowledge that aligns with technological and professional developments in the media industry. The club envisions empowering media personnel through these initiatives.

One of the highlights of the forum will be a debate titled "Journalism vs. Artificial Intelligence: Humans or Machines?" This session will explore the opportunities AI presents for accelerating and developing journalism, while addressing the ethical and professional challenges it poses. Notable participants include AI, education, and innovation advisor Hussam Al-Najjar, as well as media and technology consultant Simon Thethy.

Additionally, an interactive session titled "For Smart Journalism: 30 Apps Every Journalist Needs," will be led by mobile journalism expert Nick Garnett. This session will showcase applications that enhance productivity, improve information gathering and analysis, and enable the creation of visual and interactive content. It will emphasize tools that help journalists tell stories in innovative and engaging ways.

Another notable session, "Headlines: The Key to Unforgettable News," will be presented by Majid Muneer, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram newspaper. This session will examine the role of headlines as gateways to content and their importance in achieving news impact. It will focus on crafting headlines that balance professionalism and appeal in the fast-paced, competitive digital news environment.

Graduates of the club's "Ithmar" media training program, aimed at ages 10-17, will also participate. They will engage with forum attendees to apply their acquired skills in a professional setting, providing hands-on experiences.

Through its initiatives and services, the Sharjah Press Club aims to strengthen professional communication, foster continuous knowledge development, and facilitate skill-building and experience exchange among media professionals.
