Sharp Rise in Israeli Offenses: 967 Palestinian Deaths Recorded in One Week

Jerusalem: The OIC Media Observatory has reported a significant increase in Israeli offenses against Palestinians in the week from September 2 to 8, 2025. According to the Observatory’s documentation, 967 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces within this period, with 550 deaths occurring in the Gaza Strip. Among these, 14 bodies were retrieved from rubble, and 401 were confirmed dead, including 130 individuals who died while awaiting aid. Additionally, two Palestinians were murdered in the West Bank.

According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the number of Palestinians injured last week rose to 2,568, bringing the total number of wounded from October 7, 2023, to September 8, 2025, to a staggering 172,131. The cumulative number of Palestinians killed in this timeframe reached 65,556.

Significant violence was triggered by the Israeli Operation Gideon 2, which began on September 5, 2025. The operation involved systematic bombings of high-rise buildings and the deployment of incendiary bombs on Palestinian homes and vehicles in Gaza City. This forced residents to flee southwards. During this period, Israeli forces bombed the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and killed Palestinian journalist Rasmi Jihad in Gaza City, increasing the total number of murdered Palestinian journalists to 248.

The conflict also saw an uptick in attacks on mosques, with Al-Aqsa Mosque facing daily incursions by extremist settlers. The Israeli occupation forces closed the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, preventing celebrations of the Prophet’s Maulud and demolished the minaret of Al-Farouq Mosque in Dura, Hebron. The Hanbali Mosque in Nablus was raided, with its doors being forcibly broken down.

Settler violence in the West Bank was also documented, with 61 attacks recorded in one week. Notable incidents included a violent assault on residents of Khallet al-Daba in Masafar Yatta, near Hebron, where eight Palestinians, including women and children, were injured. Settlers also vandalized homes, water tanks, solar panels, and burned barns in several villages. They engaged in acts of destruction and theft, including running over two Palestinians with a bulldozer in Qalqilya and destroying an agricultural nursery in Nablus.

The OIC Media Observatory documented 11 settlement activities over the week, including land confiscations and the establishment of new settlement outposts. The occupation forces ordered the seizure of 4,727 dunams of land in Salfit and 455.58 dunams in Qalqilya and Nablus. Mobile homes were placed in settlement outposts near Hebron, while settlers erected mobile homes and tents in Salfit and Nablus, raising the occupation flag in these areas.

Additional actions by settlers included the reopening of a dirt road, construction of a settlement road, and the seizure of the Hamma spring in the northern Jordan Valley for a settlement project. Excavation and bulldozing were also reported on lands in Ramallah.

In total, the OIC Media Observatory documented 4,622 Israeli occupation crimes of various kinds across all Palestinian areas within the week.
