Social Security Corporation Moves to Enroll Foreign Workers in New System

Amman: The Social Security Corporation (SSC) launched on Sunday new measures to bring non-Jordanian workers under its insurance coverage and expand social protection nationwide. The SSC plans to enroll over 10,000 foreign workers in the coming phase and will automatically register new workers moving forward.

According to Jordan News Agency, the new mechanism sends electronic notifications to businesses employing uninsured foreign workers, listing the affected staff. Companies must then fix their status within 15 days of receiving the notice. If businesses fail to act within 15 days, the SSC will automatically enroll the workers using shared data from the Ministry of Labor. The corporation stated that the electronic data stands as legal evidence of employment.

Employers can appeal decisions if workers no longer work for them. The SSC will share all data with the Ministry of Labor to enforce compliance across both agencies.
