Participants in the meeting presented a proposal prepared by a group of parties that includes a set of ideas related to the election and political parties laws.

Secretary-General of the Islamic Wasat Party, Mustafa Al-Amawi, representative of the parties that attended the meeting, who represent the group of (26) Wasat Parties, presented their own formula and vision towards party empowerment, stressing their continued support for the directions of the Royal Committee.

For his part, representative of the National Congress Party, Rheil Gharaibeh, gave explanation on the proposal prepared by the 26 Group, underlining the importance of political reform based on a clear national vision and within a democratic transformation plan that enables citizens to politically move and participate in a partisan manner without any fear or suspicion.

Gharaibeh underscored the importance of reaching partisan governments, and that committee’s outputs call for optimism “and we hope that parties will be an effective bloc in the political participation.”

Representative of the Islah (Reform) Party, Zaid Bakheet, said, “We need an election law that is agreed upon by the largest number of Jordanians, and that the youth’s lack reluctance to join parties has many reasons, including the fact that more than one law has been enacted since 1989,” noting that the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System is an opportunity for the country, not an opportunity for anyone in particular.

For his part, Secretary-General of Al-Hayat (Life) Party Abdul-Fattah Kilani emphasized the importance of the integrity of the electoral process, noting that the national party list with the number published in the media (50 seats) constitutes an effort and a positive direction to renew political life.
