Temperatures on Thursday are expected to hover around annual average, so pleasant autumn weather will prevail in most parts of the Kingdom, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be moderate, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Clouds at various altitudes are also forecast to appear, making a chance for light showers of rain in the northern and central highlands, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, the JMD added.

Toward Friday, the Kingdom will be affected by unstable weather conditions, pushing mercury levels down and bringing cloudy skies with intermittent rain in the northern, central and southern regions, accompanied by thunder at times, the forecasters predicted.

As we head into Saturday, temperatures will continue to dip. Therefore, it will be relatively cold and partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered showers over the northern and central areas, that may turn heavy with thunder and hail at times.

Rainfall will extend later to cover limited parts of the southern and eastern cities, the JMD noted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom today will range between 21 and 18 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 11C or even 9C in the southern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be warmer with mercury reaching a high of 29C and a low of 18C.
