Amman: Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) has unveiled its "School Feeding-Date Bars" campaign to coincide with the beginning of the school year. The initiative aims to enhance the school feeding program across Jordan's public schools by providing a daily nutritious meal that is expected to improve students' focus and energy levels in academic settings.
According to Jordan News Agency, this initiative is part of a "strategic" partnership with the Ministry of Education. TUA's campaign aligns with its vision of achieving "a hunger-free" Jordan, emphasizing that adequate nutrition is crucial for children's learning and potential development.
The provided meal consists of date bars made from 100% natural ingredients, devoid of preservatives and added sugars, and rich in fiber and natural energy. These bars are designed to sustain students' health and energy throughout the school day.
The date bars are produced by participants in the Dar Abu Abdullah program, affiliated with TUA, as part of its economic empowerment initiatives. This collaboration integrates economic support for families, enhances children's food security, and invests in education for a "sustainable" social and developmental impact.
Program evaluations have shown a "positive" impact on students, with improvements in classroom activity and interaction and increased school attendance, particularly in lower elementary grades. This highlights the significance of providing a daily healthy meal during the foundational years of education.
In the 2025/2026 academic year, the program reached 3,811 students in 20 public schools across the Jerash, Balqa, and Karak governorates, distributing over 547,000 date bars. TUA encourages community members to support the program by donating half a dinar to the school feeding initiative.
