Amman: Minister of Transport Nidal Qatamin said Jordan's transport and logistics sector remains a key pillar of the national economy, highlighting ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure, border crossings, and logistics services to strengthen the Kingdom's position as a regional hub for transport and trade connectivity. Speaking Sunday at the opening of the 39th General Assembly of the Arab Union for Land Transport in Amman, Qatamin emphasized the transport sector's pivotal role in supporting trade, investment, and the sustainability of supply chains among Arab countries. The meeting brought together transport experts from member states of the union and the Arab League.

He described the Arab Union for Land Transport as a key platform for advancing institutional cooperation in the sector, highlighting the importance of strengthening coordination among member states to promote Arab economic integration and harmonize transport-related policies.

Qatamin also called for further development of logistics corridors, the harmonization of transport procedures, and the modernization of border and customs systems to facilitate the movement of goods, reduce operating costs, and shorten transit times across the Arab region. The assembly featured an official opening session followed by specialized discussions and coincided with the 50th anniversary of the union's establishment. The event drew representatives from transport ministries, federations, and land transport companies from several Arab countries.
