Twinning Between Rome’s Tiber River and Jordan River Announced

Rome: Jordan's Ambassador to Italy, Qais Abu Dayyeh, participated in a ceremony organized by the Lazio Regional Authority and the Municipality of Rome, marking Italy's celebrations for the Catholic Church's Holy Year, Jubilee 2025. Held on Sunday, the event featured the formal announcement of a symbolic twinning between the Jordan River and Rome's Tiber River, under the patronage of Federico Mollicone, Chair of the Italian Parliament's Culture, Science and Education Committee. The ceremony was attended by several ambassadors accredited to Rome, members of civil society, and religious leaders.

According to Jordan News Agency, in his remarks, Ambassador Abu Dayyeh highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of both rivers, describing the initiative as a symbol of hope and sustainable cooperation and a call to deepen intercultural and interfaith dialogue. Parliamentarian Mollicone praised the initiative for its religious and cultural resonance, emphasizing its role in promoting the values of peace, love, and mutual understanding.
