Amman: Two officers from the Public Security Directorate (PSD) were injured during a raid aimed at arresting armed suspects in Amman. The incident unfolded when suspects in a vehicle without license plates fired at a criminal investigation patrol south of the capital, injuring a first lieutenant. The three individuals in the vehicle subsequently fled into nearby residential areas.

According to Jordan News Agency, the PSD's media spokesperson reported that the suspects were tracked, and emergency patrols were summoned to provide backup. Two of the armed suspects were successfully apprehended, while the third managed to escape initially.

The spokesperson stated that the third suspect was later located and confronted. During this encounter, the suspect opened fire again, injuring a second lieutenant. The raiding force applied rules of engagement, resulting in the suspect's injury and subsequent arrest.

The injured officers were transported to a hospital, where they are receiving medical care. The detained suspect was also admitted for treatment. Additionally, three firearms used during the incident were confiscated.

Investigations have uncovered that the suspects have criminal records involving drug offenses, theft, and weapons possession. The spokesperson also revealed that the vehicle they used was taken from a citizen who they refused to return it to. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
