UJH and Islamic Relief USA Explore Joint Medical Initiatives

Amman: Director General of the University of Jordan Hospital (UJH), Dr. Nader Bsoul, and a delegation from Islamic Relief USA, led by CEO Ahmed Shehata, engaged in discussions to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation and implementing joint medical projects.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration with support from the International Medical Center (IMC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The cooperation primarily aims to address the medical needs of refugee patients and underprivileged Jordanians, including doctor training and conducting cardiac catheterizations, expected to commence in June.

Dr. Bsoul highlighted the hospital's role as an academic medical center, which serves over 630,000 patients annually with 64 medical specialties and a capacity of 625 beds. He emphasized the significance of international organizations' interest in forming partnerships to expand healthcare services amidst rising patient and refugee numbers.

Additionally, Bsoul noted the hospital's involvement in humanitarian medical initiatives, such as surgeries for child congenital heart defects in collaboration with Smile International. He commended the hospital's medical teams for their quality and advanced scientific technology.

CEO Ahmed Shehata expressed appreciation for UJH's comprehensive healthcare services and reiterated Islamic Relief USA's commitment to forming sustainable partnerships with Jordan's leading medical institutions in health, education, and social development sectors.

UNHCR Representatives underscored the importance of tripartite cooperation as a model for integrating international and national efforts to support vulnerable groups, particularly refugees. The visiting delegates toured UJH's Heart Center, examining the cardiac catheterization ward and the intensive care unit, while receiving insights from Professor Dr. Hanna Makhamreh on advanced medical procedures.
