Ukraine Reports Power Outages in Odesa Following Russian Drone Attack

Odesa: Ukraine said early Sunday that an overnight Russian drone attack caused power cuts in the southern city of Odesa. 'Currently, more than 29,000 subscribers are without electricity. Restoration work has already begun. Critical infrastructure is powered by generators,' Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper wrote on Telegram following the attack.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kiper stated that a 'massive' attack targeted the region, with the city of Chornomorsk, situated about 23 kilometers (14.2 miles) south of Odesa, and nearby areas suffering the most. The attack resulted in damage to energy infrastructure, private houses, and administrative buildings. Fires were reported in some areas but were quickly extinguished by rescuers. One person was injured in the incident.

Ukraine's Air Force claimed that its air defenses successfully shot down 126 out of 142 drones launched by Russia overnight. Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry released a statement asserting that its forces had damaged port infrastructure, which it claimed was "used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system made in Norway that covers it."
