New York: UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg on Tuesday called on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any escalatory actions that could further worsen the suffering of civilians.
According to Jordan News Agency, Grundberg described the Houthi airstrike on Israel's Ben Gurion Airport and the subsequent retaliatory strikes by Israel on Yemen's Sana'a Airport and the Port of Hodeidah, as "a dangerous escalation in an already fragile and volatile regional context."
He emphasized the need for all actors to comply with their obligations under international law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. Grundberg added that a return to dialogue remains the only sustainable path to ensure long-term peace and security for Yemen and the wider region.
