Amman: The United Nations Security Council: discussed the ongoing political transition in Syria on Monday, receiving its monthly briefing on the country's security and humanitarian situation from the UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, Claudio Cordone.
According to Jordan News Agency, Cordone stated that the United Nations is actively focusing its efforts on supporting both the Syrian authorities and the public to navigate current challenges, aiming to secure a sovereign, stable, peaceful, and inclusive future.
The deputy envoy stressed the critical need to advance Syria's political transition by formally establishing the country's legislative authority, strengthening state institutions, and embedding the rule of law.
Cordone added that engagement between the UN and Syrian authorities regarding structural transition plans is progressing tangibly and constructively.
