Northern Valley: The Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Education, in coordination with the Public Security Directorate’s Community Peace Center, conducted an awareness workshop on confronting hate speech, as well as rejecting violence and extremism. The session, held on Monday, also addressed the influence of social media use.
According to Jordan News Agency, Lubna Shawish, Director of Educational Affairs at the Directorate, stressed the significance of these workshops in empowering educational staff. She pointed out the necessity of enhancing cooperation between educational and security institutions to support the educational process, promote societal peace, and shield students from extremism and hate speech.
The workshop aimed to increase awareness among educational counselors on confronting hate and violence, reinforcing tolerance and respect both within and outside the school environment. Participants were provided with knowledge and skills essential for addressing these issues in both educational and professional contexts.
During the session, Captain Ibrahim Zreikat from the Community Peace Center discussed the dangers of online extremism and methods to encourage a culture of dialogue. He also highlighted the impact of social media and electronic games on students and ways to safeguard them from associated risks.
Additionally, the Directorate of Education for the Al-Koura District, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate and the Community Peace Center, organized a similar workshop at the Al-Samt Basic School for Boys. This workshop shared the goal of raising awareness among educational counselors regarding their critical role in addressing hate and violence, promoting tolerance and mutual respect, and providing necessary skills to tackle these issues effectively.
