Zarqa: Chairperson of the Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC), Louay Sahweil, said that the completion of the first phase of the Zarqa Industrial City highlights the company's commitment to the project's timetable and readiness to attract industrial investments.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Zarqa Industrial City will be the region's first green and environmentally friendly industrial city. The strategic project is part of the Industrial Cities Plan (2020-2025) and aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision to position Jordanian industry at the forefront of productive sectors. The city was built according to top engineering standards, with the national contracting sector implementing the project with high technical quality. JIEC's board has granted discounts ranging from 20 to 40 percent on the first 100 dunums of developed land to encourage investment.
JIEC General Manager Omar Juwaid stated that the first phase is more than 95 percent complete and is expected to be finalized by early 2026. Promotional efforts have begun to attract industrial projects that will create jobs for the governorate's residents and support local development in line with the Economic Modernization Vision. The first phase covers 1,116 dunums of the total 2,500 and includes 22,000 square meters of buildings, at a total cost of JD35 million. Upon completion, the city will attract investments in sectors such as food, chemical, packaging, and engineering.
Project Manager Ahmed Abu Fara noted that the city features green and smart components, designed to be the first green smart industrial city in the Middle East and North Africa. The project incorporates eco-friendly materials, expanded green areas, drip irrigation systems, renewable energy infrastructure, and Internet of Things applications to manage facilities efficiently and preserve the environment. The city also includes areas for solar systems, electric vehicle charging, a bus stop for internal transport, parking for people with disabilities, remote-sensing street systems, and a smart gate at the main entrance.
