Zelenskyy Dismisses Head of Ukraine’s State Border Service

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday dismissed the head of the State Border Guard Service, Serhii Deineko, according to a presidential decree.

According to Anadolu Agency, in an evening address on Friday, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would undergo 'substantial' internal changes to boost resilience. He mentioned that a new head of the service would be appointed and that he was expecting nominations from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Zelenskyy noted that Deineko, who has served as the State Border Guard Service chief for over six years, would "continue his work within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs." Meanwhile, in a separate decree, Zelenskyy appointed the first deputy head of the border service, Valerii Vavryniuk, as the agency's acting chief.
