Amman: The Jordan Society for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity (JSSREC) will hold its 12th Economic Conference this Saturday under the theme "The Digital Economy and Governance in the Era of Artificial Intelligence." Held in cooperation with the University of Petra, the conference will examine ways to advance Jordan's transition toward a digital economy and discuss frameworks for data governance and digital sovereignty. It will also explore the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market, the education system, and human capital, with the aim of developing practical recommendations that could support decision-makers. According to Jordan News Agency, Conference Chairman and President of the Society Reda Khawaldeh stated that the conference is being held at a time of rapid global developments in digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications. He emphasized that it provides a national platform to discuss the future of the Jordanian economy in light of these develop ments. Khawaldeh mentioned that the visions and recommendations arising from the conference could provide valuable input for decision-makers in developing future economic and legislative policies. He underlined that transitioning toward a digital economy is no longer an option but a national necessity, as artificial intelligence has become a significant driver of growth and competitiveness in modern economies. He urged greater coordination between the public and private sectors and academic institutions to develop flexible legislation capable of keeping pace with rapid technological developments. He also highlighted the importance of investing in young Jordanian talent and equipping them with future skills to strengthen Jordan's position as a regional center for digital services and innovation. Chairman of the Conference Preparatory Committee Samer Rjoub noted that the conference brings together decision-makers, policymakers, experts, academics, and leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss ke y economic issues related to digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Rjoub explained that the conference sessions will address the technical aspects of digital transformation, including digital infrastructure, cloud computing, data governance, and cybersecurity, as well as applications of generative artificial intelligence and big data analytics and their role in improving the efficiency of productive and service sectors. He added that the discussions will also examine requirements for interoperability among government digital platforms and international standards for data classification and localization, contributing to the development of a knowledge-based economy.
