Amman: The Official Gazette has announced the approval of Cabinet Decision No. (5962), dated August 18, 2026, which endorses a joint statement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This agreement was signed in New York on July 6, 2026, and signifies a new chapter in the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
According to Jordan News Agency, both governments have agreed to establish diplomatic relations as per the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, effective immediately from the signing date of July 6, 2026. This agreement underscores the commitment of both countries to fostering friendly relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The joint statement further highlights the commitment of Jordan and Trinidad and Tobago to uphold the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and international law. This includes respecting sovereign equality, maintaining territorial integrity, and adhering to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states. The establishment of these diplomatic relations is expected to pave the way for stronger collaboration and mutual understanding between the two nations.
