SSC allocates 85% of wages of insured working in establishments benefiting from Estidama+

The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced the issuance of Communiqué No. 45 of 2021, which includes amending the “Estidama+” program so that the worker is paid 85 percent of his approved wage, as the program bears 80 percent of it, with an amount that doesn’t exceed JD800, while the establishment bears 20 percent, during the period from 1/9/2021 to 31/12/2021.

Under this program, the percentage of the salary allocated to the worker has become 85 percent of his approved wage instead of 75 percent as the case previously was, the SSC said Tuesday in a statement.

It added that establishments benefiting from this program will be determined in the instructions issued by the SSC Director General.

The SSC indicated that it will deduct the percentage of the worker’s insurance contributions as of September from the wage allocated to him, stressing that the amendment of this program came with the aim of enabling workers in these establishments to obtain a higher percentage of their wages.

Jordan, Tunisia sign environmental agreement

The Ministry of Environment and the Tunisian Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment signed Tuesday the working document of the executive program for preserving the environment and natural resources and protecting them from pollution, and activating the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides in the field of environmental protection in 1999.

The agreement was signed by Environment Minister Nabil Masarweh and Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan Khaled Al-Suhaili.

The two sides stressed the need to work for ensuring the success of the prepared executive program, which aims to build the capacities of the two parties in the field of environmental protection and the preparation of joint projects in many environmental fields, such as waste management, olive mill waste, biodiversity, green economy, climate change and environmental legislation.

The agreement included working on twinning public institutions in the environmental field between the two parties and forming a joint technical committee to follow up on the implementation of the agreement through periodic meetings held in the two brotherly countries.

The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced the issuance of Communiqué No. 45 of 2021, which includes amending the “Basic Estidama” program so that the worker is paid 100 percent of his approved wage, as the program bears 60 percent of it, while the establishment bears 40 percent, between 9/1/2021 to 12/31/2021.

Under this program, the percentage of the wage allocated to the worker has become 100 percent instead of 75 percent as the case previously was, the SSC said Tuesday in a statement.

It added that establishments benefiting from this program will be determined in the instructions issued by the SSC Director General.

The SSC indicated that it will deduct the percentage of the worker’s insurance contributions as of September from the wage allocated to him, stressing that the amendment of this program came with the aim of enabling workers in these establishments to obtain their full wages.

Jordan is pivotal country in Arab action system: Arab Parliament

The Arab Parliament said that Jordan is key and pivotal country in joint Arab action and regional systems.

Receiving a delegation from the Jordanian Lower House of Parliament, Deputy Alaa Abed, Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament lauded His Majesty King Abdullah’s wise policies and his great role in strengthening Arab solidarity and supporting the joint Arab action.

Speaking to the delegation, headed by Chairman of the Parliamentary National Steering, Information and Culture, MP Omar Zeyoud, Abed expressed the Arab Parliament’s appreciation the King’s great efforts towards the Palestinian cause and defending Islamic holy sites, foremost of which are the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, in light of the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

He underlined that the Arab Parliament will permanently support various issues that concern Jordan and serve the interests of its people, and the interests of Arab peoples in general.

The Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament said that the parliament’s new strategy is working to pay the media aspect more attention, by adopting a new media strategy in accordance with the requirements of the new media.

For his part, Zeyoud called for enhancing cooperation between Arab countries at the cultural level, raising national and intellectual awareness, and adopting a unified Arab media discourse, to confront extremist ideology.

He also called for the dissemination of enlightened thinking to form a full awareness among Arab peoples of the national and Arab interests in general, adding that Jordan “relies on the Arab Parliament to unify the Arab media discourse to enable it to face current challenges and meet the aspirations of Arab citizens.”

King condoles Egypt president over passing of Field Marshal Tantawi

His Majesty King Abdullah has sent a cable to Egypt President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, expressing condolences over the passing of Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who was also a former general commander of the Egyptian armed forces and a former minister of defence and military production.

PM issues Communiqué No. 45 of 2021

Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, issued Communiqué No. 45 of 2021 based on the provisions of article (Eighth) of Defense Order No. (24) of 2020.

According to the decision, first: The beginning of article (Fifth) of Communiqué No. (16) of 2020 shall be canceled and replaced with the following:

“The insured, who benefits from the Estidama (sustainability) program and works in one of the most hard-hit sectors and establishments specified under instructions issued by the Director General of the Social Security Corporation, shall receive 100 percent of his approved wage, according to which 60 percent of the wage are paid from the program’s allocations and 40 percent as a contribution from the establishment, provided that the following is taken into account:

Second: article (Seventh) of Communiqué No. (16) of 2020 added pursuant to Communiqué No. (37) of 2021 shall be cancelled, and replaced with the following:

Seventh: 1- Taking into account paragraphs (1) and (3) of article (Fifth) of Communiqué No. (16) of 2020, an amount of (85%) shall be paid to the of his approved wage to the insured who works in the sectors and establishments specified according to the instructions issued by the Director General of the Social Security Corporation, (80%) of which is paid from the allocations of the Estidama program and (20%) as a contribution from the establishment.

2- The maximum limit for the Estidama program contribution referred to in paragraph (1) of this article is (JD800) monthly per worker.

Third: The provisions of article (First) and (Second) of this Communiqué shall be applied for a period of four months, starting from September 2021 and concludes at the end of December 2021.

Fourth: 1- Notwithstanding what was stated in Paragraph (2) of article (Second) of Defense Order No. (18) of 2020 amended under article (Second) of Communiqué No. (22) of 2021, the establishment must include its non-Jordanian workers from not covered by the provisions of the law within a period not exceeding 31/10/2021.

2- In the event that the establishment does not comply with the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this clause, the non-Jordanian workers shall be covered by the provisions of the Social Security Law as of the date of their joining the work, with the establishment bearing the benefits and fines stipulated in the law.

Fifth: The Prime Minister may amend any of the provisions of this Communiqué by virtue of Communiqués he issues for this purpose.

King urges enhancing health sector’s services, providing staff training

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday stressed the need to enhance the health sector’s level and establish an institutional mechanism for oversight over performance and ensure commitment to professionalism standards.

At a meeting with officials and representatives from the health sector at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah urged providing continuous training for medical cadres, within a plan to enhance performance.

His Majesty warned of shortcomings in the medical sector, stressing the importance of learning from past mistakes and to continue providing quality services to the public.

The King paid tribute to the two girls who passed away due to medical malpractice, stressing that this is unacceptable.

His Majesty also reiterated the importance of administrative reform to address shortcomings and counter nepotism.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh said the government is committed to advancing the health sector to offer quality services and prevent medical malpractice, while ensuring hospitals are staffed with efficient cadres who are regularly assessed.

The King listened to a briefing by Health Minister Feras Al Hawari, who noted that the issues facing the health sector are due to mismanagement rather than lack of financial resources, in addition to a lack of training and a misdistribution of cadres.

The minister said a restructuring of the Ministry of Health concludes early next week, as part of measures to improve the sector’s performance.

UK reports 203 COVID fatalities

COVID-19 killed 203 people in the UK Tuesday, taking the death toll to 135,455, according to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

A total of 31,560 people tested positive for the highly contagious respiratory disease, as the caseload nears 7.5 million, the DHSC added.
