390 Tickets Issued for Food Violations Nationwide in January

Amman: The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued 390 tickets for food violations for non-compliance with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related legislation during 6,500 inspection visits across various governorates last month, a decrease from 463 tickets in the same month in 2024.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's media spokesperson, Yanal Barmawi, stated in a statement to "Petra" on Thursday that market monitoring operations included all the Kingdom's governorates to follow up on compliance with market provisions and the availability of goods.

Barmawi revealed that the ministry's Market and Supply Control Directorate issued 187 fines in the capital, Amman, which recorded the highest number of violations. Of the total figure, 145 tickets were issued for failing to announce prices, 27 for non-compliance with the specified price, 6 for breaching the announced price, 8 for non-adherence to the discount instructions, and 1 for violating guidelines for establishing bakeries.

He further noted that 203 tickets were issued in the remaining industry, trade, and supply directorates across the Kingdom for similar violations. Barmawi added that efforts to intensify market inspection campaigns are underway with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, and market-related complaints and observations will also be initiated.
