Amman: The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Board of Directors met with Angel Antonio Gonzalez, the Governor of Siero in Spain, and his delegation on Monday to explore ways to bolster economic cooperation between Jordan and Spain. The focus was on key sectors such as tourism, food industries, agriculture, renewable energy, and information technology. According to Jordan News Agency, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, President of the Chamber, emphasized the strong bilateral ties between Jordan and Spain, particularly in economic and commercial spheres. He underscored the importance of activating existing agreements and fostering closer communication between the private sectors of both nations. Tawfiq noted that increased collaboration would help develop trade, tourism, and investment ties, encouraging intensified delegation visits, exhibitions, and business meetings between Jordanian and Siero counterparts. During the meeting at the Chamber's headquarters, Tawfiq proposed forming an economic delegation to visit Siero, locat ed in northern Spain's Asturias region, to explore potential investment and trade opportunities. He highlighted that while trade exchanges between the two countries had yet to reach their full potential, there were significant opportunities to enhance these relations, remove trade barriers, and identify new avenues for economic cooperation. Tawfiq also referred to the establishment of an Arab-Spanish chamber of commerce by the Union of Arab Chambers, aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Spain and the Arab world. This initiative is seen as vital in addressing future economic challenges and capitalizing on the economic strengths of both regions. Gonzalez expressed a strong interest in forming partnerships with the Jordanian private sector in various fields, including trade, investment, and the exchange of expertise. He highlighted Siero's diverse industries, such as agriculture, education, renewable energy, and food production, including meat, dairy, and fruit, as areas ripe for cooperatio n. Gonzalez emphasized that the variety of sectors in Siero offers ample opportunities for developing joint projects that could foster economic growth for both Spain and Jordan. The Chamber's Board of Directors members stressed the potential of the tourism sector, particularly in educational and cultural tourism. They emphasized the importance of connecting tourism and travel companies from both countries to promote mutual visits. This sector was identified as a key area that could significantly strengthen the economic bonds between Jordan and Spain.
