The value of certificates of origin issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in the January-July period of 2023 to export goods stood at JD799 million, compared with JD505 million in the same period of 2022, a whopping increase of 58.1 percent, recent figures showed. According to an ACC statement released on Sunday, the number of certificates of origin issued during the January-July period of this year was 20,560, compared with 18,913 for the same period last year. The ACC noted that a total of 4,813 certificates were issued for shipments to Saudi Arabia, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 2,396, Iraq with 1,203, Egypt with 565 and Switzerland with 14 certificates. The majority of exports during the January-July period went to Iraq, which accounted for JD309 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with JD142 million, Switzerland with JD73 million, Saudi Arabia with JD57 million and Egypt with JD51 million. With regard to re-exports of foreign products, the chamber said they amounted to about JD327 million, while exports of agricultural, Arab and industrial products reached JD97 million, JD86 million, and JD85 million respectively.
