Amman: Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Hneifat, emphasized Jordan's commitment to fostering sustainable and eco-friendly fertilizer production. The initiative aims to encourage national companies to invest in renewable energy and innovation, aligning with Jordan's national objectives and policies to achieve environmental sustainability and bolster food security in collaboration with international partners.
According to Jordan News Agency, during a dialogue with Alzbeta Klein, CEO and Director General of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), Hneifat highlighted the significant role of the Arab Potash Company (APC) in Jordan's fertilizer sector. He acknowledged APC's contributions to local communities and national projects, specifically its support for the Cocoon (Environmental Water Conservation) project, overseen by the Royal Scientific Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) alongside the Ministry of Agriculture.
The meeting, attended by APC CEO Dr. Ma'an Nsour, saw Hneifat discuss the IFA's vital influence as a global advocate for the fertilizer industry. The IFA's efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices, optimize fertilizer use, innovate in nutrient management, and provide market information enhance the efficiency of global supply chains. Hneifat also noted Jordan's status as a key player in global food security, credited to its natural resources, particularly potash and phosphate, which are crucial for crop growth and ensuring food security.
Jordan, through its leading national companies such as the APC, plays a significant role in meeting the fertilizer demands of regional and global markets. The country is actively working with the IFA to promote innovation and sustainability in this essential sector. Hneifat reiterated Jordan's dedication to strengthening cooperation with the IFA and international partners to transition towards sustainable agricultural practices and ensure resilient global food security. Alzbeta Klein expressed appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role in the global fertilizer industry, particularly through phosphate and potash production.
