APN Launches Wheat Harvesting Initiative in Amman

Amman: The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) has launched a community-based wheat harvesting initiative under the slogan "Ear of Impact" in Amman's Bader area, drawing wide participation from national institutions, activists, and journalists.

According to Jordan News Agency, the 10-day initiative aims to harvest approximately 60 dunams of wheat with the help of volunteers from various sectors. Saturday was designated for welcoming individual volunteers and media professionals who joined the harvest in support of local farmers and national agricultural products.

The wheat yield from this harvest will be donated to the Asayel Bader Women's Association. The association will process the grain into traditional Shrak bread and other heritage food products, providing a sustainable source of income for six local families while strengthening the role of women in production and preserving local culinary heritage.

Earlier this year, APN launched a broader regional campaign to cultivate a total of 769 dunams of wheat across Jordan, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and southern Lebanon in cooperation with local farming communities, emphasizing that wheat cultivation remains critical to advancing food sovereignty.
