Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday received at his Yarzeh office, a parliamentary delegation, in the presence of Army Intelligence Director, Brigadier General Tony Kahwaji. The delegation comprised of MPs: Ghassan Hasbani, Ashraf Rifi, Salim Al-Sayegh, Elias Hankash, Bilal al-Hushaimi, Waddah Sadek and Mark Daou. Discussions touched on the general situation and security challenges in the country. The delegation affirmed their support for the army, hailing its “performance and wisdom in dealing with various security incidents, the latest of which was the incident in the town of Al-Kahaleh on 8/9/2023.” They also highlighted ‘the importance of the army’s role in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon.” On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Aoun also received a delegation from the families of the town of Kahaleh, in the presence of the Army Intelligence Director. Discussions touched on the affairs of the town and the recent incidents, in addition to the concerns of its people. The delegation hailed the role of the army during the current stage, stressing “the importance of the historical relationship between the town and the military institution, and the keenness to continue this relationship based on respect, and to follow up on the file judicially.”
