Aqaba: A delegation representing Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) participated in the international EGYPS 2023 Sustainability in Energy Conference, which was recently hosted by the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

In a press statement on Sunday, the delegation’s head, ASEZA commissioner for regional affairs, Abdullah Najadat, said participation aimed to learn directly about Egypt’s “successful” expertise in providing liquefied natural gas to industrial and residential cities and using compressed natural gas as a clean fuel source for vehicles.

Najadat noted the delegation held meetings on the event’s sidelines with companies operating in the transport and supply sector and implementation of natural gas projects to discuss cooperation aspects and benefit from ASEZA’s investment incentives.

In addition, the delegation toured a number of industrial facilities, including power and gas generation stations, factories, and industrial and residential cities that rely on natural gas to generate electric power sources in Egypt, according to an ASEZA statement.

Najadat said ASEZA and Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), in cooperation with Egyptian- Jordanian Fajr Natural Gas Company, will examine technical needs, capabilities and economic feasibility of building liquefied natural gas networks in Aqaba’s residential, commercial and investment areas that are under regulation.

This future project, he noted, would slash energy costs on industrial, commercial, tourism and residential sectors and enhance ASEZA’s competitiveness.
