Amman: Civil defense teams in East Amman responded to a fire that broke out inside a four-storey building in the Qweismeh area of the capital.
According to Jordan News Agency, the building's lower floors were used for commercial purposes, including a carpentry workshop with wood materials and a paint shop, while the upper floors contained residential apartments.
Firefighting crews managed to quickly control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building or to nearby structures, despite the presence of highly flammable materials that contributed to dense smoke.
Two individuals suffered from smoke inhalation and experienced breathing difficulties. Civil defense teams provided them with first aid at the scene before transferring them to Al Bashir Government Hospital, where their condition was reported as moderate.
The response involved multiple civil defense units from across Amman, supported by security forces and municipal water tankers. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
