Crown Prince Al Hussein Meets Croatia PM at MED9 Summit

Split:His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on the sidelines of the MED9 Summit of the Southern European Union Countries in Split, Croatia.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Crown Prince expressed gratitude to Croatia for inviting Jordan as a special guest for the third consecutive year, highlighting the robust relations between Jordan, Croatia, and the MED9 group. The MED9 comprises Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain.

The discussion between the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister focused on enhancing cooperation in various fields. His Royal Highness emphasized the significance of the upcoming Jordan-EU Investment Conference in November, aimed at strengthening partnerships with EU countries.

The Crown Prince also outlined Jordan's preparations for the 2030 millennium celebrations, marking two thousand years since the baptism of Jesus Christ. The events at the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ (Bethany Beyond the Jordan) underscore the site's historical importance and Jordan's role as a key destination for Christian pilgrims.

Addressing regional issues, the Crown Prince stressed the need for increased international efforts to restore peace in the region and to collaborate on challenges facing southern EU states and Mediterranean countries.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Jordan's non-resident Ambassador to Croatia Qais Abu Dayyeh, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain. A dinner banquet hosted by the Croatian Prime Minister in honor of summit participants was also attended by the Crown Prince.
