Irbid: Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh on Tuesday inaugurated the fifth season of the Bani Kenana Cultural Evenings at the Yarmouk Battle Panorama site in the town of Saham Al-Kfarat in Bani Kenana District, Irbid Governorate. Speaking at the event, Rawashdeh highlighted the significance of the celebrations, which coincide with Jordan's Independence Day and other national occasions, serving as a record of achievements and a roadmap for the future. He emphasized building on the foundations established by predecessors, moving into the second centennial with pride and confidence under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the aspirations of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
According to Jordan News Agency, Rawashdeh expressed his pleasure in participating in the launch of the ongoing cultural evenings. These events are organized by the Shu'lat (Flame) Al Yarmouk Cultural Forum and the Jadara (Umm Qais) Forum, in collaboration with various cultural, youth, and civil society organizations in the district. He underscored Bani Kenana's historical significance and natural landscape as sources of inspiration for national storytelling and creativity in various artistic fields.
The evening's program featured a short film on the Battle of Yarmouk site, the opening of a photography exhibition titled "Bani Kenana: History and Present," and a cultural segment presented by local youth. Additionally, the program included a classical Arabic poem by poet Hasan Naji, a poem by Mohammad Ali Al-Oudat, a reading by Ibrahim Tayyar, and a welcoming speech from the participating cultural organizations, highlighting the district's vibrant cultural scene.
A performance by students from Saham Basic School for Girls honored the Jordanian flag, while a short video revisited the highlights of past cultural seasons. The event concluded with Minister Rawashdeh presenting honorary shields to all participants in recognition of their contributions.
