Dialogue session explores strategic plan for tourism development in Zarqa

The Hashemite University (HU), in collaboration with the Hashemite Cultural Forum, organized a scientific, cultural, and tourism-focused event on Tuesday evening. The focal point of the event revolved around deliberating the strategic plan aimed at promoting tourism in Zarqa Governorate. Distinguished participants such as Khaled Al-Zyoud, the forum's chairman, as well as esteemed writers, academics, and individuals with a vested interest in the subject, were among the notable attendees. Muhammad Wahib, Professor Archaeology-History of Art-Tourism at the Queen Rania Faculty of Tourism and Heritage at the HU, presented efforts, activities, and studies aimed at enhancing heritage tourism in Zarqa. He outlined the stages of the strategic plan, which involved setting up the natural life exhibit, the folklore center, and the military museum. Additionally, the plan involved the development of tourist itineraries, and the production of informative materials such as brochures, guides, and maps for tourists. Wahib further highlighted the dedication of the seven municipalities within the governorate to actively participate in the advancement of tourism. Each municipality will publish tourism materials, and the strategic plan will incorporate the signing of memorandums of understanding and cooperation among the relevant stakeholders. Furthermore, the Professor also discussed key elements and attractions within the strategic plan, such as Qasr al-Hallabat, Hammam al-Sarrah, Qasr Shabib, Qusayr Amra, and the rare stone fisheries of the al-Reem gazelle. The professor delved into significant components and attractions outlined in the strategic plan, including Qasr al-Hallabat, Hammam al-Sarah, Qasr Shabeeb, Quseir Amra, and the unique stone fisheries of the Rhim gazelle. Underscoring the significance of fostering innovative and non-conventional forms of tourism in Zarqa, he indicated that this encompassed promoting hunting tourism, exploring enigmatic architectural structures, and empowering local residents by enhancing their skills to create employment prospects within the tourism and heritage industry. In turn, Khaled Al-Zyoud stressed the requirement for ongoing events, workshops, and seminars dedicated to the advancement of Zarqa City, emphasizing the significance of engaging experts, academics, and pertinent authorities in the exploration of future possibilities and opportunities. The event wrapped up with a comprehensive discussion and dialogue pertaining to infrastructure improvements in the realm of tourism. Participants underscored the importance of initiating the Greater Zarqa Festival for Culture and Arts, along with organizing the sixth conference on tourism development in Zarqa City. These endeavors aim to foster sustainable tourism growth, stimulate economic prosperity, and attract a greater number of visitors to the region.
