Education Ministry Expands School Drug Prevention Campaign

Amman: The Ministry of Education is expanding school-based drug prevention efforts through awareness campaigns, life skills programs, and partnerships with the Anti-Narcotics Department to protect students from substance abuse, Secretary-General Nawaf Ajarmeh said on Monday.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry works under the "Yes to Life, No to Drugs" campaign strategy, focusing on building students' resilience and decision-making skills through lectures, workshops, and interactive activities. Ajarmeh highlighted these initiatives at an event marking the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse.

The expanded efforts aim to foster a drug-free environment within schools by equipping students with the necessary tools to resist peer pressure and make informed choices. By engaging students in various educational activities, the ministry seeks to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and promote healthier lifestyle choices.

Furthermore, the collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Department is intended to provide students with real-world insights into the consequences of drug use, as well as to enhance the overall effectiveness of the campaign. Through these comprehensive programs, the Ministry of Education hopes to significantly reduce drug-related incidents among school-aged children and ensure a safer, more informed generation.
