Amman: Chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission's (EMRC), Ziad Saidah, announced an increased state of readiness in the electricity and petroleum sectors, affirming that power companies are fully prepared to handle the impact of the prevailing weather conditions in the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, Saidah made this announcement following a field visit to the National Electric Power Company's (NEPCO) monitoring and control center. The purpose of the visit was to ensure the continuous and efficient supply of electricity across all regions of the country in accordance with approved emergency plans. Saidah also stressed the importance of protecting power grid infrastructure and preventing tampering.
During his visit to the monitoring and control center of the Electricity Distribution Company, Saidah reviewed operations in emergency response rooms and technical workshops. He assessed measures taken to guarantee a stable power supply, ensure quick resolution of any outages, and activate customer service and call centers to respond to inquiries and complaints.
He called for enhanced cooperation between power companies, relevant sector entities, and the EMRC's judicial enforcement teams to strengthen preparedness, curb energy theft, and launch awareness campaigns on optimal electricity use, helping consumers avoid high electricity bills during extreme weather conditions.
