EU Appoints New Special Representative for Middle East Peace Process

Brussels: The European Council announced the appointment of French diplomat Christophe Bigot as its new Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. Bigot's role will be crucial in advancing the goals of achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region, particularly through the framework of a two-state solution and in alignment with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to Jordan News Agency, the newly appointed EU Special Representative will play a significant part in supporting the efforts of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Ursula von der Leyen. Bigot is tasked with overseeing all EU activities in the region related to the peace process, ensuring that diplomatic initiatives and regional engagements align with the broader objectives of the EU in the Middle East.
